These first photos/text were put here since the actual live cams were taken down by CDOT and not returned for years

Below is one of the old cam shots from the pass, and also a still photo of the heavy snow on the pass, both have been added to this page to remind you how wonderful and beautiful the cams once were and what it looks like in case you never been on this pass before. Believe me, if you like mountain views, this is a beautiful drive and it has a very short trail on the top of the pass that leads to a great overlook of the mountains. The first shot is a summer view and the second one was a still shot taken in the spring while the road was being cleared of snow so it could be ready to reopen for the season:  

After many years and many complaints, CDOT is showing a live cam on Indy Pass once again!... But, it doesn't show the highway and the area in the way the old cam did, now it just shows a close-up of the road surface and nothing more. Why? This live shot wasn't what anybody was asking for and it does little good in what it shows. While the last cam up here did show this same spot, it showed the entire area and the entire approach from both sides of this big turn in the road. Let's hope CDOT plans to add a couple of more cams that actually show the full area, like the old cams did (or change the view on this current cam that's already up and show more of the road, instead of showing a close-up of just one switch-back on the road). One cam alone can't show any part of the sky, either, which tells travelers if perhaps snow or other precip might be on the way, so they/you can perhaps make other travel plans for your trip into or out of the area. Showing more of Colorado Highway 82 will help out all people planning to travel over this pass and road, which are what our CDOT cams are suppose to show. Why do I even have to state this? CDOT should know this already!
